In Memory Of
Marie Padula
1934 - 2017

Marie Theresa Porcaro Padula, 83, of Colonie, was welcomed by Our Lord, Jesus Christ, on August 11, 2017, delivered into eternal life by her five devoted children.
Born in 1934, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of Leonard and Mary Durso Porcaro, and the granddaughter of Carolina Marrotta Durso. One of eight children, her early life was spent in the close-knit Italian community of the "South End" of Albany, on Madison Avenue and also her beloved Jefferson Street, a place that she often reminisced about while recalling those golden days. She attended Philip Schuyler High School, where she graduated in 1952, and worked for the telephone company, and then the State of New York Department of Taxation and Finance.
After meeting and falling in love with Louis Padula when he came over from Italy, they married, and came to reside in Colonie, where they raised their children and opened the Pizza Nook on Central Avenue in the late 1960s. Marie worked at the restaurant, and was widely known for her kind-hearted nature and willingness to listen and provide support and love to everyone, including strangers. Her motto was "God is Love" and she lived her life every day striving to epitomize that simple universal truth. She loved fashion, had a zany sense of creativity, was philosophical, and born to be a mother and grandmother. She will always be the hearth of our family. We will never meet another lady like her.
She is the sister of the late Carolyn (mother of Tom Porcaro), the late Vincent, the late Nancy, Leonard (Anita), the late Virginia (Edward), and the late Frank "Sonny" (Patricia), and John; mother of Frank, Lisa (Dino), Petrocelli, Louis Anthony (Karen), Marco (Gina), and Rocco; grandmother of Sara, Sophia, Dino, Jr., Danielle, Samantha, Dominic, Allegra, and Gianina; and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Albany, NY 12211. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. Internment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
