Serafina "Fina" Weyhe
1926 - 2017

COLONIE-Serafina “Fina” Weyhe, 91, has passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 after a year’s struggle from a stroke.

She and her husband Theodore “Ted” Weyhe recently celebrated their 69th (that’s not a typo…. it is 69) wedding anniversary with their son Paul by driving to Lake George and having a lovely dinner at the Log Jam Restaurant.

They were married on July 10, 1948 in Kingston, New York. She was an employee of the Veterans Administration for the federal government while Ted served two years with the Air Force overseas. Along with raising three children, Paul Weyhe, Doreen Weyhe and Christine (Weyhe) Bornt, she had a deep love for her son-in-law Edward Bornt and her grandchildren Jacqueline Bornt, Heather Jewell and Jason Weyhe. She found great reward by volunteering her time in pastoral care, singing for Our Lady of Mercy Church (her voice was outstanding in a choir), hosting dinner parties for their dear friends, traveling, and tending her flower garden.

The family would like to thank Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for the care and attention she was given during her time there. They would also like to show their immense gratitude to all the caring nurses and staff at the Community Hospice- Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital by asking that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in memory of Fina to The Community Hospice Foundation 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, New York 12208.

By the request of Ted and family there will a simple gravesite ceremony for family and friends on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 9:00am at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12205.
