Edward J. Muller

Albany - Edward John Muller, 79, died, May 7, 2017. He leaves a wife of 56 years, Barbara (Basha); his son, Edward and his wife, Lori; two grandchildren: Sean and Sara. His son Bill and his wife, Karen: four grandchildren: Elle, Casey, Caroline and Owen and many close friends.

Born and raised in Queens, New York, the son of Dick and Gertrude Muller, he was a longtime resident of Guilderland, NY.

After graduating from Grover Cleveland High School in 1956, he joined the US Army Reserves while working full time at the New York Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring in 1995 as a Planning Engineer.

Mr. Muller was a passionate sports enthusiast joining and volunteering for such clubs and events as: Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club, Friefhofer’s Run for Women, Pine Bush Little League, Guilderland High School Football and Soccer Booster Clubs and Federal/State/Local Elections.

An avid spectator Mr. Muller always rooted for the local sports teams and athletes: the Albany Patroons Basketball, Tri-City Valley Cats and the Albany Twilight League.

Above all Ed's, "Poppy's" greatest joy was to attend his six grandchildren’s sporting events. Each of his grandchildren have provided many wonderful memories. Ed was able to bring a smile to many people around him as he enjoyed meeting new friends.

He looked forward to the spring time as this was the time for him to gather his softball umpire uniform and begin be with people. For over ten years, Ed was a very active member of the Albany Curling Club (ACC). He had many wonderful memories of the friendships he started at ACC. He would talk fondly of the winter Bonspiels he was able to participate and attend.

A celebration of life will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edward's memory to St. Judes Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
