Niskayuna- Joan M. Lord, 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 with her loving family, friends, and students by her side.

Joan was born May 2, 1940 to the late Earl and Olga Van Alstyne in Albany, NY. Joan will be remembered as a talented artist and teacher. For over 50 years she was a private art teacher, and for several years she hosted “Paint the Van Wyk Way with Joan Lord” on PBS. She also published a book of art instruction and paintings. Her passion in life was her family, friends, and students.

Joan is predeceased by her son, Edward Lord.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherrie Lord, and Andrea Lord, her granddaughter, Helen Leet, her best friend, Marie Matson, her nephew, Michael Tiscione, and a host of family, friends, and students.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 12:30 pm at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 49 Killean Park, Colonie, NY 12205. Friends and family are invited.
