She graduated from Vincentian Institute as a member of the close knit class of 1956. Gerri was married to William J. Walsh in the Grotto at VI. Over the years, she owned several businesses. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide for Colonie Central High. For over 30 years she owned and operated Art Associates in Colonie. Gerri was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church and worked closely with Fr. Provost with the youth group.
Gerri was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a talented artist; she once won the best Halloween painting on Central Ave. She loved flowers, especially the ones that were kept in Bill’s garden. Gerri was a wonderful cook and was widely known for her Spinach Pie. She was a problem solver and was always there to lend a helping hand or to offer friendly advice. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Gerri is survived by her loving husband of 60 years William J. Walsh; her children: Kristie Walsh and Michael Walsh; her beloved grandchildren: Destiny Bradway, Ashley Walsh, Halei Harbin and McKennen Harbin; her sister-in-law Carol Stephan and her niece Sharon Keppy and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gerri was predeceased by her twin brother Peter Stephan and her sister Margaret Christo.
Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, September 22 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Agnes Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gerri’s name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA, 02215.
